THE STORY
Where grillz come from, how Grillz Marche was born, and where it wants to go.
THE HISTORY OF GRILLZ
FROM BROOKLYN TO THE WORLD
Before our story there's the story of grillz. Decorative tooth covers were born in early-1980s American hip-hop culture, in New York: the first gold "fronts" became a mark of style and self-made pride, something to show. In the 1990s, between Miami and the American South, the craft got sharper and grillz started to spread beyond the neighborhood.
The name that always comes up is Eddie Plein: he arrived in Brooklyn from Suriname, started making removable gold crowns at home, then opened his own shop. He's the one who brought grillz into the rap that mattered, from Flavor Flav to the Atlanta artists. In 2005 Nelly's track "Grillz" with Paul Wall and Johnny Dang pushed them into the mainstream: from then on they weren't just a rapper thing anymore.
Decorating teeth with metal, though, is a far older idea. The Etruscans — right here in central Italy — mounted ornamental gold bands on teeth more than two thousand years ago. Modern grillz come from across the ocean, but the goldsmith's craft needed to make them well is the same as ever — and that's exactly where we started.
OUR STORY
HOW GRILLZ MARCHE BEGAN

Chapter 01
THE ORIGIN
Grillz Marche was born in 2024, in Monte San Giusto, Marche, Italy. It starts where two passions meet: goldsmithing — the pleasure of building a jewel with your hands — and hip-hop culture, where grillz were born. Putting the two together was something I'd wanted to try for a long time. The starting question was simple: why does no one in Italy make grillz done right? Custom, in declared materials, by someone who actually knows the world they come from. I couldn't find them, so I decided to learn how to make them myself.
Chapter 02
THE CRAFT
I spent months learning the real craft. Materials and dental alloys, the lost-wax technique, casting, finishing, mirror polishing, stone setting. Long hours learning from people who've worked metal their whole lives, here in Marche, where craftsmanship is taken seriously. The first grillz that came out right from my own hands was proof I was on the right path.
Chapter 03
TODAY
I work in Monte San Giusto. Every piece passes through my hands. The foundry I use is here in Marche. The finishing, the polishing, the stone setting — I do it all, in the atelier. That's the only way I can write "handmade" and truly mean it, from the first step to the last.
Chapter 04
THE VISION
I want a grillz to stop being seen as a rapper-only thing and go back to being what it is: dental jewelry, made to measure, that anyone can wear if they like it. No fake luxury, no inflated prices, no hidden materials. Just a well-made piece, with what it's made of and what it costs written plainly. The path is clear: stay on the materials I'm solid on today — certified dental alloy and gold-effect PVD finish — and grow one step at a time, without promising what I can't yet deliver. But the heart stays here, in Monte San Giusto, with the hands and the teeth.
